What are the symptoms of Graves disease?
Symptoms of Graves disease may include:
Eye complications (worsening vision and protruding eyes)
Irregular heartbeat (atrial fibrillation) and palpitations
Weight loss
Anxiety, agitation and nervousness
Heat intolerance
Tremors
What treatments are available for Graves disease?
Surgery (total thyroidectomy) can be curative and is the most appropriate treatment in some circumstances. Whilst medication can be used to treat Graves’ disease, in certain situations may be inappropriate or inadequate. Failure of medical treatment is an indication for surgery in Graves’ disease.
