Dr Aylin Aslan, Specialist Physician/Geriatrician

Dr Aylin Aslan is an Australian trained consultant geriatrician and physician with specialist expertise in geriatric medicine and rehabilitation.

Graduating from the University of Melbourne in 2002, Dr Aslan undertook specialist geriatric training at the Austin and Northern Hospitals in Melbourne and obtained her fellowship from The Royal Australian College of Physicians in 2012 after completing training in Ballarat. She has enjoyed being part of the Ballarat community since 2011 and has extensive experience in rehabilitation and functional recovery, contributing to the development of the Rehabilitation program at St John of God Hospital. Dr Aslan has a holistic and compassionate approach to patient care, specialising in management of the complex medical conditions associated with aging as well as in rehabilitation, and is a passionate advocate of preventative medicine and healthy aging. She is a member of the Australian and New Zealand Society for Geriatric Medicine.

Dr Aslan is the Director of Rehabilitation at St John of God Hospital Ballarat, caring for patients undergoing inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation. She also provides geriatric consultations for the hospital, as well as the community through The Specialist Centre Ballarat.

  • Poly-pharmacy - eliminating inappropriate or unnecessary use of medications

  • Multiple comorbidities

  • Perioperative assessment and management of the older adult.

  • Advance care planning

A comprehensive geriatric assessment involves thorough assessment and management of medical, functional and psychosocial aspects of adults over the age of 65 years.

A detailed management plan is then created for you and your GP to implement in order to optimise health, wellbeing and quality of life.
